Acne Treatment: BVLASER's Acne Laser Treatments Excel In Treating Stubborn Acne

Acne is a complex disease of the pilosebaceous unit. Its main causes can be attributed to the following two interconnected factors, forming a vicious cycle:

1. Internal Factors
① Excessive Sebum Secretion
Core Factor: Under the stimulation of androgens (and increased sensitivity to related receptors), sebaceous glands become enlarged and secrete large amounts of sebum.
② Abnormal Keratinization of the Pilofollicular Duct
Core Factor: Excessive proliferation and shedding of keratinocytes at the follicular opening block the duct, preventing sebum from being properly discharged. This is the direct cause of microcomedones, whiteheads, and blackheads.
③ Excessive Proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes
Core Factor: After the follicle is blocked, an anaerobic, sebum-rich closed environment is formed, which is very suitable for the growth and reproduction of Propionibacterium acnes.
④ Inflammation and Immune Response Core Factor: Propionibacterium acnes breaks down sebum into free fatty acids and activates the body's immune response, producing a series of inflammatory factors (such as interleukins, tumor necrosis factor, etc.), leading to inflammatory skin lesions (such as papules, pustules, and nodules) with redness, swelling, heat, and pain.

2. External Factors
① Inadequate skin cleansing, leading to the accumulation of sweat, dirt, and sebum that clogs pores.
② Prolonged mental depression, liver or gastrointestinal disorders causing constipation and fatigue.
③ Excessive intake of oily foods, sweets, and spicy or fried foods.
④ Use of inferior cosmetics or incorrect medications.
⑤ Severe pollution in the living or working environment.

Acne Treatment Principles:
The wavelengths of the optical equipment are highly absorbed by the water in the skin, triggering a photochemical reaction that generates a large amount of singlet oxygen, directly killing bacteria. Simultaneously, the photothermal effect inhibits the activity of sebaceous glands, reducing the supply of "food" and sebum production at the source. It can also penetrate deep into the dermis to reach the sebaceous glands, where the resulting thermal effect directly damages and reshapes the sebaceous gland structure, sealing off the capillaries that supply nutrients to the hair follicles and transport inflammatory substances, thus quickly eliminating redness and inflammation. It significantly and persistently inhibits sebum secretion, shrinks sebaceous glands, reduces sebum production, and undermines the very foundation of acne.

Advantages of Phototherapy:
It directly and physically inhibits sebaceous glands, kills bacteria, and eliminates inflammation, breaking down multiple pathogenic mechanisms. It is fast-acting, requires no surgery or medication, and has no systemic side effects (such as the teratogenicity and dry mouth associated with oral isotretinoin). It is an excellent choice for patients who cannot or do not wish to use medication. While treating acne, it can improve enlarged pores, fade red/black acne marks, and brighten overall skin tone, achieving a holistic "treatment + skin rejuvenation" solution. For drug-resistant acne, phototherapy provides a new and effective solution without addressing antibiotic resistance issues. After treatment, there is only mild redness and burning sensation, which usually subsides within a few hours to one or two days, without affecting normal life and work. Through several treatment courses, it can effectively inhibit sebaceous gland function, reduce the recurrence rate of acne, and the effects are relatively long-lasting.

Acne Solutions
1.Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy:
Due to the selective photothermal effect inherent in optical devices, appropriate laser heat can effectively inhibit sebum secretion in the early stages of acne, while also killing bacteria and exerting an anti-inflammatory effect. Intense pulsed light (IPL) can positively affect the resolution of erythema in the later stages of acne inflammation. Non-ablative fractional lasers can also activate collagen and vascular nerves to improve acne scars.

2.Photodynamic Therapy (PDT):
This treatment method delivers photosensitizers to the body, where they accumulate in the corresponding tissue cells. When exposed to light of a specific wavelength, these photosensitizers are activated, leading to the destruction of sebaceous glands and better control of sebum secretion.

3.Red and Blue Light Therapy:
PDT emits a narrow-spectrum blue visible light of a specific wavelength. This light, when activated by the endorphin metabolite of Propionibacterium acnes, produces a large amount of singlet reactive oxygen species (ROS), creating a highly toxic environment for Propionibacterium acnes, leading to bacterial death and clearing acne from the skin. In the later stages of inflammation, the use of red light can positively promote the activity of mitochondria in the body, thereby enhancing the body's cellular immune activity and accelerating the repair of damaged skin.
